Congratulations to Matt Allen and his crew for a great performance in Tuesday’s SOLAS race. The C60 `Ichi ban’ sailed against a number of bigger boats in the perfect flat water and breezy conditions. Among them were the top contenders for this year’s Rolex Sydney-Hobart race including the 100 footers ‘Wild Oats’, ‘Ragamuffin 100’, and ‘Perpetual Loyal’, as well as two Volvo 70’s.
Certainly a 2nd place on corrected time against such fierce competition is very promising, and Matt mentioned that his crew were getting faster and faster during the race as they adjusted the trim and learnt more about the boat, which only launched a few weeks ago.
We look forward to seeing how her performance continues to improve over the next two weeks in preparation for the big race on Boxing Day.
